“Building Up the Church”
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 14:12 (NIV)

"So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church."

Devotion:
Paul's words remind us that spiritual gifts are not for personal glory but for strengthening the church. In Corinth, believers were enthusiastic about spiritual gifts, but Paul encouraged them to seek those that edify others. This applies to us today—whether we have the gift of teaching, encouragement, hospitality, or leadership, our focus should be on how we serve the body of Christ.

Instead of seeking gifts for personal recognition, we should ask, "How can I use what God has given me to bless others?" Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or sharing wisdom, every act done in love strengthens the church.

Application:

• Identify your spiritual gifts and consider how you can use them to encourage and support others.
• Seek opportunities to serve within your church or community.
• Pray for a heart that desires to build up rather than seek personal gain.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gifts You have given me. Help me to use them to serve others and glorify You. Give me a heart eager to build up the church, not for my own recognition, but for Your kingdom. Amen.
