Daily Devotional - Cause for Celebration - WK52 - 12/26/24 - Day 339 - "A Celebratory Birth"

“A Celebratory Birth!”
Scripture: Luke 2:9-14 ESV

“And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Devotion:
In my experiences with family members who were expecting children, as the due date approached, there was great anticipation. We had the expectation of “any day now.” We couldn’t wait to receive the phone call, text message, word of mouth, that the baby was here! Such great excitement and celebration at the birth of a baby! In today’s text, we see a similar situation. The angel of the Lord brought the message that our Savior, Jesus Christ, was born! This birth signified that there was still hope for the human race, because God Himself, came down in the form of His beloved Son, to save us from the traps of sin. While the people were afraid of the angel, they couldn’t help but rejoice in the good news of Jesus’ birth. All of heaven rejoiced! Let us continue to celebrate the blessed birth of our Savior!

Prayer:
Lord, You are so great! We love and adore You for thinking enough of us to send Your Son as our Savior. We are forever indebted to You for Your grace and mercy. You gave the ultimate sacrifice, through Your Son, and we appreciate You for it. We will continue to celebrate the joyous day that Jesus came on Earth, died for our sins, and rose again with all power in His hands! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
