Daily Devotional - Cause for Celebration - WK52 - 12/25/24 - Day 338 -"Humble Beginnings"

“Humble Beginnings”
Scripture: Luke 2:7 ESV

“And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”

Devotion:
The birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is nothing short of remarkable. Who could have imagined that Mary would give birth to the Son of God, Jesus Christ! We know that Jesus is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, ruler and maker of all things, having all power in Heaven and on Earth. However, Jesus didn’t start out that way. He came into a world that didn’t know just how important He was. Because of this, He had humble beginnings. His mother Mary did the best she could with what she had, wrapping Him in small blankets and laying Him in the manger where the animals were kept. I’m reminded of a saying that I heard a lot from those in my hometown, “just because you start at the bottom, doesn’t mean you have to stay at the bottom.” Jesus may have started with humble beginnings, but that was it…JUST THE BEGINNING! Now that’s a cause for celebration. We can celebrate the birth of our Savior and relish in how it all began…with swaddling clothes, in a manger! Happy Birthday Jesus!

Prayer:
God, how magnificent You are! You do all things well. As we celebrate the birth of Your Son, Jesus Christ, we can’t help but think of how it all began, humble beginnings. We appreciate this example of humility, that we all can look where we started and where we are at this present time. We love you for sending Your Son to save our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
