“The Right Kind of Merry”
Scripture: Revelation 11:10

“And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth”.

Devotion:
Revelation often paints a gory picture of what’s to come. In the previous scriptures, John talks about the beast that will rise out of the bottomless pit and overcome the people and kill them. This scripture talks of how non-believers will be happy and rejoicing over the deaths. This is not the right kind of merry. God does not want us to celebrate evil. So many times in our society, the most heinous things are celebrated, watched, and copied. For example, television used to have strict codes on what was shown and what was said. Now, it seems there is no filter on television and millions of people tune in each day. This is not what God intended. We must rejoice and be glad in the things of the Lord and shun the evil that is in this world. The latter scriptures talk of what happened when the people are taken up and some of those left are killed and the others are terrified. This is before the seventh trumpet sounds.

Saints, lets not wait until its too late to celebrate. The right kind of merry is not giving presents and eating good food. The right kind of merry is blessing God now, so that when that day comes, we will be caught up with Him. Oh, what a glorious day that will be!

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for helping us to understand what is to come in this world. Help us to realize that we do not want to be a part of what’s coming. Help us to understand the right kind of merry and to give You the praise while we have the chance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
