“Rejoice and Be Glad”
Scripture: Psalm 118:24

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”.

Devotion:
This scripture reminds me of Mother White. No matter the circumstance or how she is feeling, she always exclaims, “This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Thank you Mother for setting the great example of how we should approach each and every day of our lives. Every day we open our eyes, we should be thanking the Lord and rejoicing for the new opportunities, the new mercies, the new day to be better than we were on yesterday. I used to think and say when I was younger, I will do it tomorrow. I have now realized that tomorrow is not promised, so I now say, Lord willing….and the creek don’t rise. A bit of southern humor.

Each day God grants us should be a day of rejoicing. No, I am not saying you should walk around having church in the office or the grocery store. What I am saying is to posture your heart and soul in a position of praise and worship to God for first allowing you another day and thanking Him for what He has in store for you on that day. Recently in Sunday School, the question was asked, “what does it mean to worship?” My answer is attempting to let God know how grateful and appreciative I am for all He has done for me in every facet of my life. With my hands, with my feet, with my song, with my time, with my resources, with my talents, I will worship Him. This is the day that the Lord has made, take the time to give Him praise for allowing you to see it!

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for allowing me to see another day, I will rejoice and give You praise! Help me to help others understand the importance of worship and help me to encourage others to rejoice and be glad in the day – no matter what may come! We know You are in control, and we thank You for this day! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
