"A Wonderful Name”
Scripture: Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Devotion:
Isaiah 9:6 is a powerful prophecy that reveals the nature and identity of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. It speaks of God’s incredible gift to humanity—a child born to bring salvation and establish a kingdom of justice, righteousness, and peace. Each name given in this verse captures a facet of Christ’s character and His role in our lives:

• Wonderful Counselor: Jesus provides wisdom and guidance for every step we take. His counsel is perfect and meets us in our confusion, doubts, and fears.
• Mighty God: He is strong and sovereign, able to overcome every obstacle and provide strength in our weakness.
• Everlasting Father: Christ’s care is eternal and tender, offering security and love that lasts forever.
• Prince of Peace: In a world of chaos, Jesus brings true peace—peace with God, peace within, and peace with others.

This verse reminds us that the Messiah is not only a Savior but also a King who carries the weight of governance on His shoulders. In Him, we find the fulfillment of God’s promises and the hope for all creation.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Help me to trust in Him as my Wonderful Counselor, lean on Him as my Mighty God, rest in Him as my Everlasting Father, and live in His peace. May His presence guide my steps today, filling me with hope and joy. Amen.
