“Give Thanks”
Scripture: Psalm 118:29

“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

Devotion:
The psalmist emphasized gratitude for God’s unwavering goodness.  As children of God, we find Him to be good to us even when we are not deserving of it. God had a plan for His people from the very beginning.  When Israel was facing their challenges, they were reminded of the favor of God. We, as His creation are reminded to give Him thanks always! When we pray we should remember to give God thanks for all the blessings He has and continues to give us. For instance, thank Him for giving us His only begotten Son - for His plan of salvation.  We thank Him for He gives us brand new mercies each and every day; we thank Him just for who He is. For He is great and greatly to be praised!  I can say confidently that each of us have something that we can think of that would confirm this very scripture in our lives.  How wonderful it is to know without a doubt that His mercy and loving-kindness will endure forever!

When we show gratitude to God, we magnify Him, which allows us to see His greatness even more and grow even closer to Him.  In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul wrote, “In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Prayer:
Father God I thank You for Your loving-kindness and tender mercies that You bestow upon me each and every day. There is no one like you anywhere, and I will continue to give you all of the praise, glory and honor, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
