“God is our Provider!”
Scripture: James 1:17

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

Devotion:
James is dealing with the issue of temptation and sin in this chapter, which is totally opposite of God’s nature.  The God that we serve is good and He is perfect.  He is the creator and source of all that is good.  He is not the one who tempts us to sin.  He is the Father of lights and He changes not.  When we sin, we are in darkness. We are damaging ourselves and others.  I am so thankful that we serve a perfect God.  He gives us things that stand for light, like love, peace and joy - things that won’t cause us harm or shame.  We can be encouraged because God provides and blesses us with everything we need to live daily in a Godly way, even in this un-Godly world.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father I thank You for providing me with every good and every perfect gift; the gift of salvation and of wisdom; the gift of love and life; and the gift to be alive to share Your Good News in this world today.  I thank You for who You are, and that You change not.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
