Daily Devotional - A Time of Gratitude - WK47 - 11/17/24 - Day 301 "Our God Is Awesome"

“Our God is Awesome”
Scripture: Psalm 104:15-28

“And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.  The trees of the Lord are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house. The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies. He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God. The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts. There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein. These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.”

Devotion:
While reading this Psalm, my mind just wandered to how great and wonderous our God is! He is a provider of all that we need.  He ensures that all that He created works and produces what it is set out to produce. Psalm 104 reminds us of God’s great creation and how intricate and detailed His works are. We are so blessed to be able to enjoy nature and all of the marvelous things He has created for us. I pray that we all take time to sit and absorb all of the beautiful blessings our Father has created for our spiritual and physical needs; and then pause and give Him all of the praise! Verse 15 says He gave wine to make man’s heart glad, the oil to make his face shine and bread to strengthen our hearts. God knew then just what we would need today.  He is concerned about our well-being, and He provides for us, but not only us humans, He has made provision for all of His creation, including the animals on earth and sea.  So, we can be encouraged knowing that He is Jehovah-Jireh – Our Provider!

Prayer:
Father we thank You for all that You do for us.  We praise You for Your marvelous creation. Forgive us for complaining and taking for granted all that You provide.  Help us to be mindful of Your greatness, and to show our gratitude as we enjoy the many blessings that You have bestowed upon us.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
