“Reasonable Service”     
Scripture: Romans 12:1

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
 
Devotion:
If you had to bring a gift before God, what would you bring Him? When we think about all that God has done for us, we can never repay Him for His love and kindness toward us. However, we can do what we were created to do, which is to present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice by submitting to His will for our lives.

Our scripture today lets us know we should present ourselves to God by being holy and acceptable. The key points of this scripture are sacrifice, holiness, and the acceptance of God. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us to be redeemed back to God, so it should not be difficult for us to submit to God’s will for our lives and sacrifice our own wants and desires. Second, God requires us to be holy. He wants us to be cleansed from the inside out. Finally, when we are walking in obedience to God, we can rest in the assurance that we are pleasing Him. I love the last two words, “reasonable service” because they let us know that serving God is the most practical thing for us to do. God is not asking us to do the impossible, He is asking us to submit to Him so that He can work and move through us.

Prayer:
God, thank You for all that You have done for us. Help us willingly submit mind, body, and soul to Your will and to the plans You have for our life. We decrease so that You would increase in us the more and get the glory from our lives.. Amen.
