“Thankful Peace”
Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
 
Devotion:
The state of real peace is something that can be hard to find if we allow the tricks, traps, and the lies of the enemy to overtake us. When we focus on the state of this world, it is easy to become overwhelmed. That is why it is so important for us to pray and seek God daily. Our scripture today lets us know that if we want the peace of God that will keep us, we must do a few things.

First, we must “be careful for nothing.” That doesn’t mean live in fear, but I believe God is calling us to use keen discernment. We must also guard our gates. We have to recognize the traps and the tricks of the enemy to avoid being caught unaware. Whenever or wherever the old nasty stinking devil rears his ugly head, we have to cut, slice, dice, and rebuke him by using our spiritual sword, the word of God.

Next, we must in “everything” humbly and earnestly pray to God with thanksgiving. Prayer should be a habit, not a last-minute solution, in trouble. The word of God lets us know He will keep us in perfect peace if we keep our minds stayed on Him. I don’t know about you, but there is something so comforting about resting in God’s peace. You see, God’s peace is not based on circumstances, it’s not based on emotions. God’s peace is a reassurance that no matter what is going on all around us, God is in control so we can rest in Him, knowing that He is working ALL things out for our good!

Prayer:
Lord, help me be watchful and continue to pray and give You praise in all things. Thank You, Lord, for Your perfect peace. Amen.
