“Give Thanks”
Scripture: Colossians 3:17
 
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
 
Devotion:
When we focus on our wants, needs, and our lack, it is easy to let negative thoughts and feelings run rampant in our minds. However, the more we honor and reverence God, the better we feel. Why? Because we are doing what we were created to do, give Him thanks.
Our scripture today admonishes us to thank God with our words and our actions in everything that we do. How awesome would it be if we practiced an attitude of gratitude instead of an attitude of complaint? Pastor always says, “Thanking is for thinking people.” When you take the time to look back over your life at all God has blocked, carried you through, and delivered you from, it really shouldn’t be hard for us to say, Lord, I thank you! As we prepare to go into this Thanksgiving season, let us do it with grateful hearts, blessing God for all He has done and all He will do in our lives.

Prayer:
God, thank You for all that You have done and will do in our lives. Help us to give You thanks in all that we say and do. Amen.
