“A Good Example”
Scripture: Hebrews 13:17 NLT

“Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.”

Devotion:
Leading people is not for the faint of heart. We often hear the stories of those who are in leadership who mention how difficult the journey is and how lonely it can be while leading people. This is true both naturally and spiritually. One commonality that I’ve noticed in good leaders is that they lead by example. In other words, they show the way rather than tell the way. This is true even for our Pastor. He and Lady Samu-el lead by example, showing us the importance of trusting and having faith. Their way of life speaks volumes to their leadership style and how they are able to show us, the people of God, how to live by faith and not by sight. Let us take hold of their example and continue to follow them as they follow Christ. We never know when it will be our time to lead, so it is imperative that we take hold and remember our leaders, think of all the good things that have come to us through their journey and example of faith.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for giving us leaders after Your own heart; that we can learn and follow their example of faith as we all grow in our relationship with You. Help us to never forget their labor of love, and continue to keep them. We also ask that You impart wisdom on those of us who move into leadership, that we lead by example and not just words. These requests we ask in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
