“A Life Worth Repeating”
Scripture: Hebrews 13:7

“Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.”

Devotion:
This scripture is often referenced when we’re trying to get people in line. You know, like when your children act out. We remind them of what the Bible says, now, “Obey them who have rule over you!” Then we will use it when your boss says something you don’t agree with, and your coworkers will remind you to of what The Bible says, “Obey them who have rule over you!” Just those few words will often cause us to take several steps back and reflect on what it means to remember those who have rule over us. It doesn’t mean that we don’t question or even wonder why leaders do what they do, but it causes us to pause and thank God for their leadership as many of them do watch over us. Especially when it comes to our spiritual leaders.

I can remember the many days my spiritual mother, Mother Daisy Sherman. would pour into me. She taught me the things of God. She taught me what it meant to be a lady and how to carry myself as such. We spent a lot of time together traveling for Jesus. There were many days I would even mimic how she sang, prayed and even taught the word of God. I watched how she served Bishop and the people of God. She never thought it robbery to get dirty for Jesus and His people.

I knew she was praying for me as we would often pray together on the road. She would always tell me to anoint my head and hands and ask The Lord for his divine protection and anointing. I believe it is because of her prayers,  training, and guidance I am who I am in God today.

As leaders, we must also remember that there are people watching us. Some with the desire to be just like us. We have a responsibility to walk upright before God and them. We never know who is admiring us from afar.

Reflection:
Take a moment today to think about the people who have guided you spiritually. What qualities did they exhibit that you admire? It's not just about their words, but their actions and the lives they lead. How can you incorporate those qualities into your own life and walk in faith?

Prayer:
Lord, help me to remember those who have guided me on my spiritual journey. Give me the wisdom to learn from their lives and the courage to live out my faith as they did. In Jesus’ name Amen.
