“The Golden Rule”
Scripture: Luke 6:31

“And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.”

Devotion:
If you don’t want it done unto you or your loved ones, then you should have no desire to do it unto others and their loved ones. Matthew 7:12 reads- “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:39 says, “And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

The first of the commandments of Jesus is: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22:37 We must live our lives in accordance with the will of God by prioritizing our relationship with God above all else. We should try and establish a strong connection with God through prayer as our ultimate authority.

If we were to make a fist and point the index finger at someone, the remaining three fingers will be pointing back at us. We must remember to show love to others as Jesus has given us His love by giving us His grace, mercy, and compassion. Love is more than a feeling; it is a sacrificial concern for the well-being of others.  

Prayer:
Father in Jesus’s name, help us to apply Luke 6:31, The “Golden Rule” to our hearts and give us the grace to love others with a Christ-like love and compassion that comes from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
