“Be The Example”
Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:12

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

Devotion:
An example is typically a mold or template that people follow. It can be a stencil for a drawing, a letter that goes out to numerous people, or it can be a person. This scripture today is talking about being an example. This scripture specifically talks about age. Some people in this world tend to look outward rather than accepting the information being given. It doesn’t matter if you are twenty or sixty, if God gives you instruction, you must follow. There is no age limit on serving God. Once a person comes into the knowledge of what’s right and wrong, they can be used by God.

Don’t miss the message by looking at the messenger. I have seen teenagers who set better examples than adults. Once you have come into the knowledge of what God wants you to do, begin to walk in it. It can be hard for a young person to do what God has called them  to do when they see their peers seemingly “having fun”. The scripture says to be an example in word, talk, love, spirit, faith and purity.

If you are not already doing so, take the time to be an example. Its never too late and, if you have not been doing all that God has called you to do, start today. It’s not too late as long as you have breath in your body.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for allowing me to be an example. Help me to come up in the areas where I am lacking so that those who see me will always see You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
