“Work While It is Day”
Scripture: Ecclesiastes 9:10

“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”

Devotion:
This scripture reminds us that we must work while it is day. We must do the work God has called us to do while we yet live. So many times, people say “I’ll serve the Lord when I’m this age, or when I’m stable and can afford it (in reference to tithing)”. Often times, that day never comes or they don’t make it to the age they referenced sadly.

We must do the work God has called us to NOW! It is time out for procrastinating or waiting for someone else to do it. As leaders of God, we must be willing to do any and everything that is required to edify God’s kingdom. Everyone has a role, and everyone should be pitching in to help. Burnout occurs when a select few are doing all the work and this must stop immediately Saints. And it’s not just the big things, so often it’s the little things that slip through the cracks that causes chinks in the armor. From picking up paper off of the floor if you see it, to being on your assigned post on time; please believe that EVERY thing is important in the kingdom of God. We must understand that only working to be recognized is not of God.

If a visitor came in, what would they see? Would they see 5 people step over a program on the floor because each one was waiting for someone else to do it? We must evaluate ourselves and know the true motive for our service. In order to lead, we follow and serve. There are no small tasks in the house of God, because everything should be done for ministry’s sake. It’s crystal clear and we have to do a better job of following God’s word. The scripture says that once we are in the grave, we can’t work anymore, so let’s work while it’s day!!

Prayer:
Lord, help me to do whatever my hands find to do. Help me to lead by example and to not think of myself too high to do ANY task in Your kingdom. Help me to work while I have a chance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
