"Deep Breath"
Scripture: Proverbs 29:11

“A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.”

Devotion:
In this verse, Solomon contrasts two kinds of people: the fool and the wise. The fool is someone who cannot control their emotions, especially anger. They are quick to react, letting their feelings spill over without considering the consequences. On the other hand, the wise person exercises restraint. They do not suppress their emotions, but they handle them with patience, choosing to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively.

Anger is a powerful emotion, and when unchecked, it can lead to hurt, broken relationships, and regret. The wise, however, understand the importance of self-control and seek peace over conflict. They aim to calm situations rather than escalate them.

In our daily lives, we often face circumstances that trigger frustration or anger. The challenge is how we respond. Proverbs 29:11 encourages us to pause, breathe, and choose wisdom over impulsiveness. When we allow God to guide our emotions, we become peacemakers, reflecting His love and patience.

Thought for the Day: 
The next time you feel your anger rising, take a moment to pause. Ask yourself, "How can I respond wisely?" Let God’s peace guide your emotions and actions.

Action Step:
This week, practice pausing before responding in moments of frustration. Pray for God’s wisdom in handling difficult situations.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to exercise self-control, especially when I feel anger rising within me. Teach me to respond with wisdom, grace, and calmness in difficult situations. May I be a vessel of peace, reflecting Your character in my interactions with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
