"Chosen with Purpose"
Scripture: John 15:16

"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you."

Devotion:
In this powerful verse, Jesus reminds us of a profound truth: we have been chosen by Him. It is easy to think that our relationship with God is something we initiated. However, Jesus makes it clear that it was He who first reached out to us, calling us into a relationship with Him. This choosing is not random or without purpose; it comes with a divine appointment. We are chosen to bear fruit—fruit that will last.

What does it mean to bear fruit? In the context of our Christian walk, it means living lives that reflect the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that are the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). It also means engaging in good works and sharing the gospel, leading others to Christ.

Jesus assures us that as we fulfill this calling, the Father is ready to answer our prayers when we ask in His name. This is not a blank check for anything we desire, but rather a promise that as we align our hearts and wills with God's, He will provide all we need to accomplish the work He has set before us.

Application:

• Reflect on the ways God has chosen and called you in your life. What specific tasks or roles has He appointed you to?

• Consider the fruit of your life. Are you bearing fruit that will last? How can you further align your actions with God's purpose?

• Take time today to pray, asking God to empower you to fulfill His calling, and trust that He will provide what you need as you do His will.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for choosing me and appointing me for Your divine purposes. Help me to bear fruit that will last, fruit that glorifies You and impacts others for Your kingdom. Guide my steps and align my heart with Yours, so that everything I do is in harmony with Your will. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
