"Power to Witness"
Scripture: Acts 1: 8
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall
be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto
the uttermost part of the earth.”

Devotion: Do you have that power? Today we are reviewing a familiar scripture. Jesus
is addressing the Apostles, assuring them that after the Holy Ghost comes, they would
receive power to go and witness on His behalf. That same power is given to us today
once we are saved and filled with the Holy Ghost.

We recite it every First Sunday, we believe the baptism of the Holy Ghost is given to
believers that ask for it. The Holy Ghost is a gift that is available to all believers if we ask
for it and mean it. Once we receive the Holy Ghost, we will be endowed with power.
God doesn’t just give us this power to sit home and be complacent, but as it was stated
earlier in the week, we are charged to go and tell it to unbelievers, so that they can be
saved and enjoy that same Holy Ghost power. You don’t have to be an Elder or
Missionary to tell someone that “Jesus Saves.” We all are given that power and
authority to share the gospel with others once we are saved and filled with the Holy
Ghost.

Today, if you are not filled with that power, the good news is it’s available to you today.
The Holy Ghost is yours, if you want Him and our Father will give it to us if we sincerely
ask for it. The Holy Ghost will give us power and will help us to live this life as Christ
would have us.

Prayer: Lord, we thank You for the power of the Holy Ghost. We pray
that You will give us all the holy boldness to go and tell others of Your saving power.
Help us not to be complacent in our own salvation, but help us to catch on fire
