“A Time for All Things!”

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV
"1 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."
 
Devotion: In school, we are taught that there are four seasons in nature: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each season has its own distinguishing characteristics and designated time in the year. This allows us the opportunity to prepare and easily recognize them. As time progressed, it has become increasingly difficult to determine which season we are actually in. It’s as if things are out of place and the seasons aren’t operating in their “calling.” We are left in a state of confusion because the seasons are not in their predestined time.  They have a time of the year that they are supposed to operate in, but because they aren’t in position, they aren’t effective, and chaos abides.

This is the perfect segway into today’s scripture. There is a time and season for EVERYTHING under the heavens. This scripture is a powerful statement, because it explicitly tells us that there is a time and place for everything to operate in. When we don’t allow or accept this simple principle, chaos is inevitable, just like the way the seasons are out of order. We must understand that God is a God of order, which means everything He’s made has a specified time and place. It’s our duty, as His most precious creation, to use wisdom to continue to live by that order and keep everything in its time and place. If not, things will be “out of whack.”
 
Prayer: Lord, we thank You for Your infinite wisdom and creative power! You made and created everything under the heavens to have a time and a season. Please give us the strength to acknowledge and execute this powerful concept to continue operating in the order that you have created.  In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen!
