Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:11 KJV

"11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come."
 
Devotion: Growing up, there were instances when my mom, grandmother, or aunt would share with me experiences that they had encountered. More often than not, they would generally end with, “learn from my mistakes.” In other words, their downfall was an example to me of what not to do. The same can be said about this scripture. The Bible is full of people who made good and bad decisions, and explains the consequences of those actions. It’s our duty to listen and learn from those experiences as it pertains to the ordinances and commandments of God.
Studying and listening to these examples will save us a lot of heartache and teach us how to be obedient to God. He loves us enough to give us warnings when we are straying away from His commandments. Let’s not turn a deaf ear to these biblical examples, but rather use wisdom and learn from their mistakes.
 
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your unfailing love that always abounds!  Please give us the wisdom to make sound decisions and learn from the mistakes of others. Help us to see and experience the benefits of being obedient to Your Word. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen!
