“From Death to Everlasting Life”

Scripture: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV)

Devotional:
J.J. Hairston has a song that is in my playlist rotation called, “You’re Gonna Live.” A verse in the song says, “You’re gonna live to see it happen!” Another one says, “live! live! live!” Jesus came that we might have life, and that life more abundantly. He came that we would live and not die! God created us in His image. He took the time to form us from the earth and breathe life into us all. The trick of the old nasty, ugly, stinking, dirty, rotten enemy is to get us to believe that God is not concerned about us and that He allows us vainly to go through hard times without a care in the world. The devil is a liar! God redeemed us back to Him so that we would have everlasting life!

God could have allowed the fall of man to be the end of humanity, but His grace and mercy would not allow that to be so. He gave us another chance, and I believe we do God a disservice when we allow the distractions and cares of this world to hinder the purpose God has for our lives. God wants to take us from glory to glory. He wants us to really live, not exist, not get by, not barely make it. He wants us to live a life that glorifies Him so that others will receive salvation and everlasting life. God wants us to securely know that we are going to live to see it happen! Like Pastor always says, “We’re going somewhere!” We have to remain faithful, and we have to press forward to the journey ahead.

Prayer: 
Lord, help me live a life that pleases you. Thank you for redeeming me back to you through Jesus, and help me allow your light to shine through me. Amen
