Devotion: The Counselor and the Truth

Scripture: John 15:26 (NIV) “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.”

Reflection: In this verse, Jesus promises His disciples the coming of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who will testify about Him. This promise is a cornerstone of the Christian faith, emphasizing the continuous presence of God through the Holy Spirit. The term “Advocate” suggests a helper, counselor, or one who supports and stands by us, providing a profound sense of comfort and assurance.

The Holy Spirit is described as the Spirit of “truth”; This signifies not only that He embodies truth but also that He guides believers into all truth. In a world often filled with deception and confusion, the Holy Spirit illuminates our understanding, helping us discern truth from falsehood.

As you continue in your Transition to Power, consider these:

1. Seek Guidance: When faced with decisions, big or small, seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Trust that He will lead you towards truth and wisdom.
2. Embrace Comfort: In moments of distress or uncertainty, remember that the Holy Spirit is your Advocate. Lean on Him for comfort and reassurance.
3. Witness Boldly: Just as the Spirit testifies about Jesus, let His presence in your life empowers you to witness boldly about your faith to others.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, our Advocate and Counselor. Help us to always seek His guidance and truth in our daily lives. May we feel His comforting presence in times of trouble and be inspired to testify about Your love and grace to those around us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
