“Accepting the Call”

“But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”
– Hebrews 1:8-9

Devotional:
The anointing oil does so many things – breaks yolks, restores, heals, and sets free – all with the power given by God. It also does something else – causes us to love what’s right and hate what’s wrong. Hate is a word not to be used lightly - however, when we are under the anointing of God, we must hate sin. Let me clarify by saying, hate sin, not people. So often it gets twisted that we as Saints of God don’t like this group or don’t like that group, but that could be further from the truth. We love all God’s people; we just do not agree or condone the behaviors of some.

When we accept the call and are anointed by God, we must remember to love righteousness as the scripture said. What is righteousness some may wonder? Righteousness according to the dictionary is “the quality of being morally right or justifiable”. Let’s take a closer look at the last word – justifiable. When we are righteous, God approves of what we are doing, and we are justified in His eyes.

As we continue to our wealthy place, let us remember the call we accepted and ensure that our words, actions and deeds can be called righteous in God’s eyes.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for the anointing oil and for us being able to be called righteous in Your eyes. Help us to remember our calling and continue to seek Your approval. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
