Called to Duty

Mark 6:12,13
12. And they went out, and preached that men should repent. 13.  And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

Devotional:
What does it mean to repent? And how does casting out devils and anointing people with oil lead or prepare us for a wealthy place? It all leads us to an eternal home with Jesus.
When Jesus was selecting His twelve disciples, it was very important that He prepared them for ministry. He anointed them with oil and gave them authority to cast out devils and heal them with oil, all in His name. It wasn’t enough to have the people repent from their sins, but Jesus wanted them to be healed, set free and delivered. Jesus wanted the people to live a fulfilling life here on earth and teach others about Christ.

That is still the case today. Jesus still wants us to teach people about His Love and compel them to repent from their sinful ways and turn towards Him. He still performs miracles, signs and wonders through the anointing oil, and people are being delivered every day.
The anointing oil is essential in everything Jesus does through us. That’s why we use oil when people come to the altar for prayer. It doesn’t matter if it’s for repentance or for healing, the oil is still an essential part of Jesus’ ministry.

As we move forward to our wealthy place, let’s remember to take the anointing oil with us everywhere we go. The work of The Lord is not for the faint at heart. It requires endurance and thick skin. Not everyone is willing to accept what you have to say about how they live. As we saw in the previous scriptures in Mark 6, even Jesus had problems with people who knew Him in His formal life. The key is to keep pushing and spread the word of God.

Prayer:
Lord thank You for Your love and Your grace. Thank You for giving us direction on how to reach the people and lead them back to You. Thank you for giving us the tools to use to assist us with ministry through the anointing oil. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
