A Holy Place
 
Exodus 30:25-29
25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. 26 And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony, 27 And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense, 28 And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot. 29 And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.

Devotional:
This scripture takes my mind back to the days when the church mothers would pray and walk the floors anointing everything in the church. When I say everything, I mean everything, including the organ and the drums. They would pray and seek God for the sanctification of the house of God. They would bind and loose anything that was not like God. It was very important that they made God’s house a sacred place.

We also felt God’s presence when we sat in the chairs or touched anything in the sanctuary. There were times when people would sit in any chair and could get what they needed from The Lord while sitting.

That’s what the scriptures are saying here, everything in the house was holy. When we enter the house of The Lord, we are to approach it in the same manner. His house is Holy and everything in it is Holy. We do not carry the presence of The Lord in an ark anymore, so we look at the church or the tabernacle as the place where the presence of The Lord rests; and we should respect it as such.

As we continue in our journey to Pentecost and our wealthy place, let’s reverence the house of The Lord as a holy place where His presence lives.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for who You are in our lives, and we honor and reverence Your name. Thank You for making Your presence known to us and giving us a chance to worship You fully. We will always remember that your presence is always with us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
