“Chosen and Anointed”

Leviticus 8:30
30 And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood, which was upon the altar, and sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons' garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him.

Devotional:
Oil and Blood. What two powerful elements used by God to confirm the call on one’s life. That’s what Moses was doing here with Aaron. It was time for Aaron to take his place, but before Aaron could start his ministry, he had to be consecrated for the assignment. The oil represents God’s anointing, and the blood represents the sacrifices that will be made for the assignment.

That’s how it’s done in today’s time. When someone has the call of God on their life, their leader will anoint them with oil, and some consecrations involve communion. This act is a demonstration to the people of God that this person has been chosen by God and anointed to do His work.

As you go throughout your day today, remember this, as ministers of God, it’s God’s anointing that we operate under, not our own. It’s Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins that we are sanctified under, giving us the authority to speak on His behalf. We are vessels, anointed, filled, and used by God.

Prayer:
Lord, I thank You for the oil and the sacrifice of Jesus’ blood which gives me the authority to speak on Your behalf and tell the world of Your goodness. We thank You for the strength that’s needed to do the assignment and the power to stand when it becomes challenging. We thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
