“Gazing for Jesus”

9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:9-11
 
Devotional:
Here we see in the previous verse 8, that Jesus was speaking to His disciples concerning the power that they would receive once the Holy Ghost has come upon them. Beginning at verse 9, when Jesus had spoken to the disciples, He in His physical body ascended into heaven and a cloud received Him until they were no longer able to see Jesus. The disciples remained gazing looking for Jesus.

My brothers and sisters don’t just look up for Jesus’ return. But hold to the promise that He will return for a church of believers without spot or wrinkle. Church let’s get our garments (hearts) and minds clean and iron out our wrinkles. Wrinkles of bitterness, wrinkles of hatred, wrinkles of gossip, wrinkles of procrastination, and backbiting. Don’t allow our looking for Jesus be in vain when He returns. Be Ready!

Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank you for forgiving us for all our sins and everything that is not like you in our hearts and spirits. Help us to keep our garments free of spots and wrinkles so that when you return, we will be ready to go back with you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
