John 1:8 - “He was not that Light but was sent to bear witness of that Light.”

Devotion
As we delve into the scriptures, we can see that the “witness of that Light” is John the Baptist. In his day, John was born to report and forecast the first-time planet Earth had ever borne witness to the true light. That ordination and wisdom is the same spirit God gives to your local meteorologist, who forecasts the sunny days so you can prepare for your week.
See, the word had to specify that John wasn’t that Light because the anointing would illuminate John in a way that transformed his entire being. In the following verse, the word says that light would lighteth every man that cometh into the world. John in the womb, before he knew he was John, was to be viewed as the first physical manifestation of a life after the witness of Jesus. John, aka the spiritual meteorologist, spent his whole life broadcasting the new change in the atmosphere so those who opened their spiritual minds could be prepared to be changed forever.

God had to send a forerunner so that we could have examples to follow in ministry when witnessing. Those who see the light we bear will be reminded that this is not our light. But this is due to The Light, Jesus, who lightens our new man. This is to share the good news that there will be no more cloudy days. But the forecast will always be sunshine through the true light of the world, who is Jesus Christ.

Prayer:
Lord, Father God, in the mighty name of Jesus, we come to you humbly and thankful that you extended your grace to illuminate us on this week. That your Light in us will be used to change the trajectory of the lives of those who come onto our paths. Father God may this precisely touch our youth as they navigate through this world's thick, gross darkness, so that they may know and see that there is proper light always there and that that same light is there to shine within them. In Jesus' mighty and transformative name, Amen.
