Redemptive Grace”

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” 
Ephesians 1:7 NIV

Devotional:
When I think of God’s grace and mercy toward me, I think of how unworthy I am. It brings to mind the old spiritual hymn, “Amazing grace! How sweet the sound. That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now I am found; was blind, but now I see.” God’s grace is AMAZING! His grace redeemed us back to Him through the powerful blood of Jesus Christ. God did not have to send a savior to redeem us back to Him; H he could have allowed us to be lost forever.

However, God’s grace is so great, it is so merciful and kind, that He said, I will not leave my creation to die in their sin. He sent His son wrapped in flesh down from glory to show us how to live a life crucifying the flesh in the flesh. Then, He said, I am going to allow my son, perfect in every way, to be crucified for the same people who ridiculed, laughed at, and denied Him.

But glory be to God, the story didn’t end there. Jesus rose with all power, and let us know that because He lives, we can live! John 10: 9-10 says, “I am the door; by me if any man enters in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Lately, I have thought about living the abundant life that Jesus intended for me to have. I feel like I do Him a disservice when I allow the cares and distractions of this world to stress, depress, and weigh me down. Jesus nailed everything I could ever endure in this life on the cross at Calvary, and He gave me the right to live a life free, and free indeed. Jesus wants us to live abundantly! I believe He wants His love, His peace, and His joy, and His grace to overflow from us to someone else, so that we can all give Him the glory together. God’s grace is His unmerited and undeserved favor. His grace is not brought or earned, and it’s not based on our talents, gifts, or abilities. It is just AMAZING!

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your grace and your mercy toward me. Thank you, Jesus, for redeeming me back to you. Help me share that same grace with others that you have freely given to me. Amen.
