“Study to Shew Thyself Approved”
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15

Devotional:
Study – that’s a word I haven’t used in the natural context in a long time. For me, studying was reciting until I memorized, and once I took the test, I basically forgot everything – except math. I can teach basic Algebra principles right now because it was not something I memorized; it was something I learned. The same goes with the word of God. In this context, study means to be diligent, which is how we should approach God’s Word. We should intake the Word daily, not just if someone wants to “test” us, but because we need the word to live. Taking God’s Word in the proper context and using it the right way is an honor to God. When people “interpret” the scriptures to fit their agenda, they are not rightly dividing God’s Word. The Bible is not just, as spoken so eloquently by Elder Chelsey Simms, for smooth reading. Every word serves a purpose in leading and guiding us on this path of salvation.

As you continue down the blessed Road to Pentecost, remember to study God’s Word, hide it in your heart, and rightly divide the Truth. Your life depends on it, your soul depends on it!

Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your Word. I thank You that I don’t have to figure out this life on my own and that you have given me the direction I need for my life. Help me to remain diligent and vigilant and not misinterpret Your Word.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
