He Cares for You

1 Peter 5:6-7
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Devotion:
Peter in this scripture is instructing the younger believers to be subject to those that are older in the faith and be humble toward each other.  He says that they are to submit themselves and respect the authority of those who govern the church.
God has placed leaders over a flock to guide and develop it.  We often find ourselves in a hurry to reach certain milestones. We have to trust God to promote us as He sees fit.  God knows when we are ready.  If we go prematurely, we may fail. Remember, “the race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong…” Ecclesiastes 9:11a; but if we depend on God’s grace, He will give us good success. We have to trust God’s timing. We must be teachable before we can teach.  We must be humble and pleasing to God and our leaders.
 
As representatives of God, we have to be mature in the Lord, and that takes time.  So let’s wait on the Lord and be of good courage while we continue to serve Him with gladness.

Prayer:  
Father God, we thank You for caring for us. Help us to humble ourselves and seek You first; for your word says, and then all of these things will be added unto us.  Help us to be patient and prayerful while we wait, and trust in Your timing for our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
