Daily Devotional Wk8 Daniel Fast Day 7 - 02/24/2024 - Lord I Trust You

 Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Devotional:
Before COVID-19 hit in 2020, our team at work would go on these team-building excursions. These activities were designed to help team members gain trust in each other. There is one activity that required one person to start out on the line, then catch the hand of the other person and pull them along. Then that person would grab the hand of the next person and pull them along. This would go on until everyone on that team was on the line.

 The trusting part came into play when the first person could not see anyone behind them. They had to keep walking ahead or everyone would fall. The person in the front had to trust that the people behind were still doing their part and the last person had to trust that the people in front were going the right way.  When we all got to the end of the rope, we realized that we had just demonstrated, Blind Love, ie faith.

This verse is saying that we should Love (trust) God with all our heart. If I love you, I trust you. If I trust you, I love you. We should have a conscious dependency on God everything we do in life. Not to say like a junkie, but,  like a junkie. A junkie wakes up looking for their next high. Some may go to bed high, wake up high, and stay high all day. That’s an extreme way to think about dependency and trusting God, but can you imagine if we were like that? Waking up every day depending on The Lord. Going through out our day High (depending) on God, and going to bed depending on God. And waking up the next day, looking for Him again. What a life of peace we would have.

As you go through day seven of your Daniel fast, do an evaluation on how you start and finish your day. Do you start your day acknowledging The Lord first? Do you sit with the purpose of getting to know Him better and what He has for you that day? Do you stay on the line and let Him pull you through? If you do not acknowledge Him first, now would be a great time to start. I promise you, when you start acknowledging Him first in your day and being totally dependent on Him, your mind will be at ease and your paths will be easy too.

Prayer:
Lord, I thank You for always being there for me when I need You. I release my will to You today so that I can walk in the peace and confidence knowing that You’re directing my paths and making them straight for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
