Day 10: Family Unity
"Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." - Ephesians 4:3
Devotional:
Family is a cornerstone of the church. Whether we are blood relatives or brothers and sisters in Christ, we are a family of believers. Ephesians 4:3 calls us to make every effort to keep unity through the bond of peace. When a family is unified, it is strong and is able to withstand any and all challenges.
As life's challenges come and go, it can sometimes be hard to maintain the spirit of unity. Unity takes work because, just like in any family, there are some good and some not so good. It can sometimes be troubling for those who are good when the not so good seem to be taking over. However, through the Holy Spirit, there can be peace in the family.
Today, reflect on your own family - blood, extended, spiritual - and evaluate if there is peace. If not, ask yourself what can I do to help my family? How can I be in the right place at the right time doing the right thing to help unify my family? Take a moment to reflect and then begin to put those things into practice because where there is unity, there is strength.
Prayer:
Father, please pour Your peace over my family. Help us to strive for unity in all things, reflecting Your love and harmony. Amen.
