HSM 40-Day Consecration – Day 28

MEDITATE:
Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

PRAY: Lord, in the dark seasons of my life, shine your light. When I am doubting, remind me of who you are. When I am weary, bring me peace. When I am restless, may I find my rest in you. You are the victory-- hallelujah!

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE: Have you ever been around a child that has been punished or chastised for doing something that they know is wrong? Perhaps you can remember when you were a child and got in trouble for misbehaving. Often the child will cry, fuss, and throw a full-blown tantrum. Maybe even go on a rant about being treated unfairly and misunderstood. When I was a young child, I got in trouble for disobeying my parents by walking to the corner store when they were not home. My neighbor saw me leave and told my mother what I had done. I was punished for my disobedience and told to sit on the sofa for the rest of the evening. My siblings came by me laughing and giggling, and that made it seem that much worse. I cried myself to sleep after what felt like hours on that sofa. I woke up to my mother rubbing my back and telling me that it was time to wake up and eat dinner. She explained to me why it is so important for me to do my best to always follow the rules. This same person that chastised me came back to show her love for me. In today’s Bible meditation, Micah started by throwing a pity party, he was disappointed with the way of the world and in a dark place. In verse 8 he remembers that he is a child of God. Even though he may feel down, God has not counted him out. His confidence is restored just by speaking on the promises of God. Sometimes personal shortcomings can leave a feeling of doubt and humiliation. When caught up in a feeling of hopelessness, use those times to reflect on where you are, where you have been, and where you could be. It is wonderful to know that when we have Christ in our lives we can rest assured that ‘trouble won’t last always.’
