HSM 40-Day Consecration – Day 20

MEDITATE: John 20:17
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
PRAY:
Lord, help me to have a world view that is big enough to include all that the resurrection means, for me, for the church, and for mankind everywhere, for all time. Thank you that the resurrection is not just a personal reality, but a cosmic reality.  

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE: “It’s Bigger Than ME”
See, Mary Magdalene was close to Jesus, so she went back to the tomb looking for her friend and teacher. I can imagine her heart longed for the comfort of the relationship that they shared. The same concept of when we lose someone or something dear to us. Jesus cautioned Mary telling her not to cling to him, for he had not yet ascended unto his Father. He let her know that now he’s not only his Father and God but he’s also hers.

He had to let her know that the resurrection was bigger than him and she now has something more to look to. He couldn’t let her stay there mourning and holding on to him. Then he enjoined her to go tell his brothers what he’d told her. It’s the same with us sometimes in our humanness we hold on to what is familiar or personal to us.

I implore you to ask God to help you see the bigger picture. As believers we are charged to be a witness of the good news! Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection should resonate with you personally but not stop there.  The power of the resurrection was for all mankind and now because of it we have the Holy Spirit here with us to continue Jesus’ earthly ministry.
