HSM 40 Day Consecration Weekday Devotional

MEDITATE: Mark 7:7-9
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

PRAY:
Lord, open my eyes to new ways that I can remove distractions from my life in order to see and know you better. Help me to be creative in the choices I make, as I seek to discover more of who you are without anything in the way.

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:   “Do You Got Good Religion?”
Okay, we get it…you don’t smoke, drink, chase women nor men. You don’t lie, still cheat nor kill. You’re at the church every time the door opens. You even serve on all the auxiliaries there is to serve on. But your desire is to be seen working and not seen living for the Lord. Yes, all of the above is important as we put away the old man and take on the new creation. However, God is looking for those who are true worshipers of Him and their hearts desire is to please Him and not be seen by man.

Jesus speaks to the Pharisees about how they are living their lives for the traditions of men; the do’s and don’ts’s of religion oppose to living a life that exemplifies the Love of God. To keep God’s commandments, we must first, Love God with all our hearts, mind and soul. Second, we must love our neighbors as ourselves. Meaning we must commit our lives to The Lord and show grace to others, just like Jesus did for us on the cross.

Having good religion means nothing without Love. Let’s ponder on this question…Do you got good Love? Show Love and grace. Now, that’s good religion.
