MEDITATE: Philippians 3:10-11 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. PRAY: Lord, in these next 40 days, help me to focus on you above all else. Show me how I can be your hands and feet in my community-- may I live out my faith in this season in new ways that give you glory.

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE: True righteousness comes from deleting my desires and accepting Christ. In this season of consecration, we must be focused on sanctifying ourselves so that we can be all God wants us to be. As we put off the old man (Ephesians 4:22), we grow closer to God and fulfill our purpose in Him.

Focus means to “pay particular attention to” as well as “to be able to adapt to a level of light to see clearly” (Oxford dictionary). When we pay attention to our actions, when we pay attention to what God says, we are able to adapt our lives to see clearly what God has for us and where God wants to take us. The key word is “adapt”, which means we must sanctify ourselves. We must go through the process to shed the old and replace it with the new. As we continue our consecration, ask God what you need to take off. Ask God what you need to put on. Focus your eyes, your heart, your mind, and your Spirit on Jesus - the author and finisher of your faith - so that your life will bring all the glory and honor to God.
