HSM 40 Day Consecration Weekday Devotional
Day 7: Tuesday, February 28, 2023

MEDITATE: Matthew 6:1

PRAY: Lord, may I be gracious toward all who choose to observe Lent, and all those who don’t. May I be cautious in how I share about my Lenten practices this month, avoiding hypocrisy and choosing love for me neighbors above all else.

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:
As  we  continue  with  in  this Holy Season, I am reminded of my first time observing Lent. I chose to give  up  the one thing I consumed every day - bubble gum. It was such a struggle for me; however, I find now that I have matured in Christ, I see the real purpose in sacrificing for Lent - growing closer to God.
Our thoughts, our hearts, our prayers, and our sacrifices during this Holy Season should be about one purpose - Kingdom Business. When our hearts and thoughts align with God’s Will, nothing we do will be seen as a reflection of us, but as a reflection of Christ in us.

In  the  scripture,  Matthew  6:1,  Jesus  is  telling  the  disciples  to  be  wary  of  our  outward  actions. Our consecration  to  God  should  not  be  a  sign  taped  to  our  forehead  for  all  the  world  to  see.  Our consecration  should  not  be  to  show  how  saved  we are. Our consecration should not be to show our neighbor that we are better than them. The love of Christ should be the guide for our actions toward our  brethren,  so  that  as we draw closer to God, let us remember that our lives should be the mirror that reflects the image of Christ.
