HSM 40 Day Consecration Weekday Devotional
Day 4: Saturday, February 25, 2023

MEDITATE: Matthew 4:1-2
“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.”

PRAY: Jesus, help me to set aside time for worship and reflection in this season of Lent. Help me draw nearer to you and understand you more deeply. May I receive the overwhelming graces you have to offer me, today and everyday.

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:
Pastor asked us this past Thursday to consider how we can bless the Lord in the house of the Lord, as I compose the Saturday devotional, I am reminded that Jesus denied himself in the wilderness.   We bless  the  Lord  when  we  are  in agreement with the Lord, and Jesus was in agreement with the Holy Ghost  When  Jesus  goes  into  the  wilderness,  a  place  of  emptiness  and  lack,  he  maintains  his agreement with the one artifact we can count on - the word of God.
Jesus  combats  the temptation of the enemy with the infallible written word of God.   As we progress through  this  Holy  Season,  let  us  search  the  scriptures  and find agreement with the written word of God.   John  speaks about this personal agreement through scripture when quoting Jesus saying that “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).

John lays the foundational connection between Jesus and the word in John 1:1-3, when he stated that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” So, as we obey the written word of God, we agree with God, and strengthen our relationship with Jesus, who resisted temptation  by  remaining  in  agreement  with  the  written  word  of  God  and  the  divine  presence  of Almighty God.
