“Confidence in His Work”
Scripture: Philippians 1:6

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
 
Devotion:
Often times, I look at my spiritual growth and sometimes feel disappointed. Dealing with the same old habits, sometimes it causes my faith to waiver. In those moments, I sometimes wonder “Am I doing enough, am I pleasing God, am I doing what He has called me to be?” I feel like I am messing up the progress in my life and that God is frustrated with me. Today’s Scripture speaks to these moments. Paul lets us know that we don’t rely on our own willpower, discipline, or moral strength, we rely solely on the finished work of Christ.

It is not up to us to perform the good work; the Scripture says that God will perform it until the day Jesus returns. His finished work on the cross was just the beginning, and He remains actively at work to finish the work started in us. This life can sometimes feel like a knock down drag out brawl, but we must remember that it is a journey of relying on, trusting in, and believing in God. He has begun the work in us, and He will shape those rough edges, redeem our mistakes, and bring His work in us to completion - until the day of Jesus Christ.

Prayer:
God, thank You for the profound comfort of Your promise. When I feel weak or unfinished, quiet my fears with the truth that You are gently and perfectly completing the work You started in me. Help me to rest daily in Your finished work and your ongoing care. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
