“Stay Close to Christ Every Day”
Scripture: 1 John 2:28, NLT

“And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.”

Devotion:
John speaks with the gentleness of a spiritual father when he calls believers “little children.” He isn’t belittling them — he’s reminding them who they are: loved, cherished, and invited to stay close to Jesus.

To abide is to remain, dwell, and continue — not just a passing emotion, but a steady, daily way of living. His message is simple and urgent: stay near to Jesus now, so that when He returns, you can stand before Him with confidence rather than fear. As it is often said in the streets: “Stay ready so you want have to get ready.” When we’re connected to God, we will be like the five bridesmaids who had their lights trimmed and ready when the bridegroom comes - Jesus Christ.

Remember this: Confidence doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from relationship — from walking with Him day by day.

Consider This:

• Am I living today in a way that reflects closeness to Christ?
• What habits help me “abide” — prayer, Scripture, obedience, worship?
• Are there areas where I’m drifting instead of remaining?

Prayer:
Lord, help me to abide in You today. Keep my heart steady, my mind focused, and my steps faithful. Teach me to walk closely with You so that my life reflects Your presence. Give me confidence, not fear, as I look toward Your return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
