“Strength That Doesn’t Come From You”
Scripture: Isaiah 40:30–31, NLT
 
“Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

Devotion:
This Scripture takes me back to who I used to be—young, adventurous, curious, and always ready for a challenge. But as the years passed, that sense of adventure slowly shifted into caution and awareness. I take my vitamins, I watch my steps, and I think before I move. My days aren’t always marked by the same strength I once had, though there’s still plenty of energy in me. What I have now is wisdom, and a clear understanding that I’m no longer that young girl I once was.

Isaiah reminds us of something we often forget human strength runs out — God’s strength doesn’t. Even the strongest people eventually hit their limit. Even the most disciplined, energetic, capable individuals get tired, discouraged, or overwhelmed. But God offers a different kind of strength —renewed strength that comes from hoping in Him.

To “hope in the Lord” means to:

• wait on Him
• trust His timing
• lean on His power
• rest in His faithfulness

And when we do, God lifts us in ways we could never lift ourselves.

The Eagle Image:
Eagles don’t survive storms by fighting the wind. They rise above the storm by letting the wind carry them higher. That’s what God does for those who trust Him: He lifts, carries, He renews, and He strengthens. Not once, but continually.
 
Consider This:

• Where am I relying on my own strength instead of God’s?
• What would it look like today to “hope in the Lord”?
• Am I fighting the storm, or letting God lift me through it?

Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I get tired, weary, and overwhelmed. Renew my strength today. Teach me to hope in You, to trust Your timing, and to rest in Your power. Lift me like an eagle above the things that drain me. Help me walk, run, and soar in Your strength. In Jesus’ name Amen.
