Daily Devotional - Seeing Beyond What Is: The Vision - Week 46 - Day 312 - 11/8/26 - "Look Up"

Author: Evangelist Lisa Dalton

“Look Up”
Scripture: Genesis 15:5, NIV

“He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.’ Then He said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’”

Devotion:
Genesis 15:5 is a moment where God gently pulls Abram out of his tent—out of his confined perspective—and asks him to look up. Abram had real concerns: he was aging, childless, and unsure how God’s promise could possibly unfold. Yet God doesn’t rebuke him for questioning; He expands his vision.

The stars became a visual sermon. A reminder that God’s plans are not constrained by human timelines. A declaration that what seems impossible to you is effortless for Him. A picture of abundance in a season that felt barren.

God still does this. He still calls His children to step outside the “tent” of fear, discouragement, or limited thinking and look up. When you lift your eyes, you begin to see that God’s promises stretch farther than your doubts.

Reflection:

• Where have you been looking at your situation through a limited lens?
• What promise from God feels too big or too delayed?
• How might God be inviting you to “look up” today?

Takeaway:
God invites you to see beyond what your eyes can currently perceive. His promises are bigger than your present limitations.

Prayer:
Father, lift my eyes today. Help me step out of the small spaces where fear and doubt try to confine me. Show me Your promises again—wide, expansive, and full of life. Strengthen my faith to believe what You have spoken, even when I cannot yet see it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
