“Trusting God for Tomorrow”
Scripture: 2 Kings 2:11

"And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven."

Devotion:
In this Scripture, as Elijah and Elisha continued their journey, a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared, and Elijah was taken up into heaven by a whirlwind. This is a great example of God's power and sovereignty!

As believers, we have to learn to see beyond what is before us and trust God even when we cannot fully understand what He is doing. There will come times in our lives when the loss of a loved one may appear too hard to bear, our prayers may seem unanswered, or our future may not look too bright. But we must not allow what we see today to limit our faith in what our God can do tomorrow. Elisha's life reminds us of the importance of preparation, faithfulness to the work, and spiritual growth. As he served alongside Elijah, he was being prepared to carry on the prophetic ministry. When Elijah was taken up into heaven, Elisha witnessed God's mighty power and received the mantle to continue the work. We should be encouraged by this to know that God is preparing us for future assignments through the seasons of service and learning we experience today.

In order to see beyond what is, we have to develop a deeper relationship with God through prayer, studying His Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to strengthen our faith. When we focus only on our circumstance, such as the loss of a loved one, broken relationships, or even disabilities, we can easily become discouraged. But when we fix our eyes on the Lord, we are reminded that He is still working for our good, even when we cannot see what He has in store for us.

So let us walk by faith, and not by sight, trusting that His plans are greater than our understanding and His power reaches far beyond our God-given wisdom.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that there is more to life than what we can see with our natural eyes. Help us to look beyond our present challenges and trust in Your power, promises, and faithfulness unto us. May our faith be strengthened when we become discouraged, and remind us to depend on the guidance of Your Holy Spirit to pull us through. In Jesus' name, Amen.
