“A Heart That Gives Generously”
Scripture: Deuteronomy 15:7–8, AMP

“If there is a poor man among you, one of your fellow Israelites, in any of your cities in the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not be heartless, nor close-fisted with your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend to him whatever he needs.”

Devotion:
God’s guidance is clear in today Scriptures - don’t be heartless or close-fisted, but be open-handed and generous. There is a saying that talks about everybody, somebody, anybody and nobody - thinking someone will do it can sometimes cause us to be slow to act or not act at all; but God wants us to be compassionate. When we see a need, we are to fill a need.

Compassion doesn’t begin in our pockets; it begins in our hearts. When we have the love of God in our hearts, it is not a chore to give. We become willing vessels - ready, willing and able - to give. We give because we know God has given to us and we want to reciprocate that love to others. All we have comes from Him and all that He asks is for us to open our hearts to others when He gives us the chance. There may be someone around you who is in need. Take the time today to see the need and fill the need.

Do not harden your heart. Do not close your hand. Let God's love flow through you.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for blessing me with everything I have. Thank You for continuously providing my needs. Help me today to recognize the needs around me and bless me to be able to fill those needs. Open my heart and allow Your love to flow through me, so that I can be a blessing to those I come into contact with. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
