Daily Devotional - Seeing Beyond What Is: The Vision - Week 41 - Day 282 - 10/9/26 - "Looking Unto Jesus"

Author: Evangelist Crystal Poston

“Looking Unto Jesus”
Scripture: Hebrews 12:2

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Devotion:
Life can become difficult when we focus too much on what is happening around us. Problems can become bigger, fear can become louder, and discouragement can make us want to give up. Hebrews 12:2 gives us a different way to handle those difficult times: “fix your eyes on Jesus.”

Jesus endured the cross because He saw the joy after the suffering. He knew that His pain had a purpose and that victory was ahead. There may be times when we don't understand what God is doing. We may be praying for something that hasn't changed yet and feel tired from carrying burdens that seem too heavy. Don't let the burdens become your focus. Instead, be intentional about looking to Jesus. When the situation feels overwhelming, look to Him. When the answer seems delayed, keep trusting Him. When you feel like you can't carry the burden any longer, remember that you don't have to carry it alone.  Keep your eyes on Him, hold on to His promises, and trust that He is working even when you cannot yet see the outcome.

Remember, Jesus is our way-maker! While our situation may be difficult, Jesus is greater than your situation. When you look to Jesus, you remember that suffering is not the end, delay does not mean denial, and what you are experiencing at the moment does not determine your future. Jesus is the One who began your journey of faith, and He is faithful to finish what He started - Hallelujah.

Today, choose to lift your eyes above the troubles you may be facing and fix them on Christ. Let His example of ultimate sacrifice give you courage to endure and let His promises fill your heart with hope.

He is our strength, our hope, and the One who will see us through.

Prayer:
Lord, help me keep my eyes on You when life becomes difficult. When I feel tired, remind me of Your faithfulness. When I feel discouraged, remind me of the joy and hope that are found in You. Give me strength to carry on and faith to keep moving forward. Help me not to be controlled by what I see, but to trust the One who holds my future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
