“Doing Good and Sharing”
Scripture: Hebrews 13:16, AMP

“Do not neglect to do good, to contribute [to the needy of the church as an expression of fellowship], for such sacrifices are always pleasing to God.”

Devotion:
Love is action; and God desires more than words of faith. He desires a life that reflects His love through our actions. Today’s Scripture reminds us not to neglect doing good and sharing. In a world so focused on individualism, God is calling us to look beyond our own selves to the needs of others. He has placed us in positions to bless others. Some often think that doing good means some grand gesture, but that is simply not so.  A kind word, an encouraging message, helping someone in need, giving generously, or simply being present for someone who is hurting can become an offering to God. Our giving is an act of worship unto the Lord - not the person we give it to.

The Scripture calls these actions sacrifices. Doing good often comes at a cost - time, money, or comfort - yet God sees every sacrifice as precious and pleasing to Him. Look around you and see where you can help someone in need. Let your faith become visible in your sacrifice. When you do so, the Bible says, “God is pleased.”

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for reminding me that my sacrifice is an act of worship unto You. Help me to not miss the opportunities You have placed before me and to give with grace whatever is needed of me. Let my actions please You so that I can be a blessing to all I encounter. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
