Daily Devotional - Seeing Beyond What Is: The Vision - Week 41 - Day 280 - 10/7/26 - "The Spirit of Truth"

Author: Evangelist Crystal Poston

“The Spirit of Truth”
Scripture: John 16:13

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

Devotion:
Jesus spoke the words in this Scripture to His disciples before His crucifixion. He knew they were heartbroken and worried about His upcoming departure.  Jesus promised that He would not leave them alone. He would send the Holy Spirit to be their Helper, Teacher and Guide.

While we live in a world that is full of so many different influences; some that will encourage us, others that will confuse us, and many that will pull believers away from God’s purpose in their lives, we must be thankful to Jesus for the gift of the precious Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth. The Holy Spirit will not lead us astray as those other influences may.  He only speaks the truth, reminds us of God’s Word, gives us wisdom, convicts our hearts, and helps us recognize what is pleasing to God.

As leaders of God’s people, it is important that we seek the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance on how to move forward. When we ask for His direction, we must also be willing to listen and obey, even when His direction is different from what we desire.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving us the gift of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us helping, teaching and guiding us. I pray that He will lead us into truth and give us wisdom to recognize Your voice. I pray for clarity of mind when life’s noises seem so loud. And when we are afraid, I pray that we can find peace.  Please let Your truth guide our thoughts, decisions, and actions every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
